Welcome to Dartmoor Yurt Holidays at New Cott Farm

where you can come and stay in a traditional Mongolian yurt in a totally secluded and beautiful setting on the edge of Dartmoor. The yurt stands alone by the edge of a tranquil lake, surrounded by bluebell-carpeted woodland and provides the perfect rural getaway from everyday life.

We live and work on a 26 acre small-holding, where we grow organic vegetables and keep chickens, horses, llamas and sheep. It’s possible to see wild deer and rabbits running about the land, as well as a wealth of fauna, flowers and vegetation. You’ll also be able to purchase veggies and fresh organic free-range eggs from our own chickens on the farm (laid so recently they may still be warm!)

Camp cooking facilities are provided close to the yurt, and there is a fire pit close to the glade where you can barbeque food beneath the stars. Rustic wooden furniture on the yurt’s decking means that you can sit out comfortably and relax whilst looking out at the stunning views. Nestled in the woods is a compost toilet (just like a regular toilet but no flushing involved and far more eco friendly!) as well as a hot shower.

The yurt itself is 19ft in diameter and is beautifully designed, painted in vibrant patterns and was imported from Mongolia where it was made. It is highly insulated, with four layers of material and padding and, when the wood-burning stove is roaring away it’s incredibly cosy and warm, regardless of what the weather is like outside. The yurt sleeps 4-5 and you have a double bed, double futon, table and drawers as well as a Moroccan day bed, plenty of comfy floor cushions and lots of lanterns creating ambient lighting.

It really is the ultimate rural retreat. If you’re looking for an alternative holiday and an unforgettable experience, you could have just found it.
